Welcome

Letter From the Chairman
August 2011

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the 2012 Basingstoke Music & Arts Festival syllabus. Once again we shall be holding the Instrumental and Speech and Drama sections over the first two weekends in March in the beautiful surrounds of Sherfield School and I would like to thank the Head Teacher and Governors. These sections will take place simultaneously in different parts of the building and we hope that performers and spectators alike will have time to enjoy the spectacular grounds.

The ensemble, band and choir section will be held at Queen Mary’s College.

It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of our long serving President and former Mayor of Basingstoke John Greenwood. Those of you who have been involved with the Festival for many years will remember his hard work in making the Dance Section such a success and his enthusiasm for the Festival movement. We are pleased that Angela Hurley as agreed to become our new President.

Finally I would like to thank the committee members, teachers, participants, supporters and all the volunteers who make our Festival such a success year after year.

I look forward to seeing you in March 2012.

Wendy Harding
